Position Summary:The Crate Builder is responsible for constructing custom wood crates and packaging for finished signage and components to ensure safe transportation and delivery. This position requires knowledge of woodworking tools, attention to detail, and an understanding of shipping specifications for large-scale and high-value signage products.
Key Responsibilities:

• Build custom wooden crates for signage, displays, and fabricated parts based on product dimensions and weight
• Read work orders, shop drawings, and crate layout plans to determine measurements and material requirements
• Select and cut wood materials including plywood, OSB, and dimensional lumber using saws and other woodworking tools
• Use hand tools, nail guns, drills, and screws to assemble crates to meet safety and quality standards
• Apply padding, blocking, and bracing inside crates to protect sensitive or fragile signage components
• Collaborate with fabrication, finishing, and shipping departments to ensure proper timing and handling
• Inspect finished crates to ensure stability, security, and readiness for shipment
• Label crates with shipping details, handling instructions, and product identifiers
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety guidelines
• Assist with loading and unloading crates as needed using pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified)

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• MUST HAVE - 2+ year of woodworking, carpentry, or crate building experience preferred
• Familiarity with basic power tools (saws, drills, pneumatic tools)
• Ability to read a tape measure and blueprints accurately
• Strong physical ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Forklift certification is a plus

Work Environment:This role is performed in a shop or warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy materials. Safety equipment is provided and required.
