Jerry's Enterprises, Inc. has an outstanding opportunity for a Meat and Seafood Director. The Meat and Seafood Director will be responsible for overall merchandising initiatives enabling our meat and seafood departments to reach their full potential in driving sales, performance and profit. This position provides hands on expertise, training, and direction to Meat Managers, staff and store leadership on all phases of meat and seafood operations. This includes product knowledge, cold chain management, quality assurance, food safety and product merchandising. This position will serve as a subject matter expert in fresh meat and seafood cutting and merchandising operations.

Reports To: Vice President of Merchandising

Location: Corporate Office - Edina, MN

Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Rate of pay: $135,000 - $160,000 / year, based on experience

Hours: Monday - Friday with occasional weekend work required

  • Qualifications:

  • Experience in retail meat at a manager or director level
  • Understanding of financial statements and marketing plans and their impact on profit, revenue, and volume
  • Proven leadership and ability to lead by influencing others both formally and informally
  • Demonstrated success record in collaborating with multiple functional areas to achieve overall company goals
  • Experienced with successfully leading large-scale projects across multiple retail locations
  • Ability to apply strategic and analytic thinking to develop best practice retail programs
  • Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Store Managers to ensure that performance and merchandising standards are met
  • Analyze profit and loss results; ensure that meat product delivers sales and profit in each store
  • Procure product and provide balanced and profitable recommendations for our ads including making weekly adjustments in pricing based on cost changes, cutting tests and competitive weekly price checks
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation are executed flawlessly within the meat and seafood environments
  • Build relations and collaborate with vendors to ensure product innovation, negotiate best cost of goods and build confidence to gain investment in company programs and initiatives
  • Ensure marketing campaigns and offerings meet company standards and properly reflect industry trends
  • Implement new strategic initiatives that deliver revenue growth and/or improved customer experiences, securing buy-in from store leadership, operations and other cross-functional stakeholders
  • Create merchandising plans to drive sales
  • Our ideal candidate has:

  • 10+ years in retail meat and/or meat experience including perishable products and programs
  • 3+ years of director-level, and/or sales manager experience; with a large-scale retailer preferred
  • 3 - 5+ years retail operations, including experience in retail meat operations
  • Bachelor's degree, recommended. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
